Project Story

The Forensic Genetics Laboratory is a 15,000 square foot facility housed in a former train bay of the Nabisco baking plant.

The laboratory is located inside the Texas Medical Center’s John P. McGovern building.

The laboratory site is in Harris County Precinct One and is led by Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Luis Sanchez. The forensic genetics laboratory’s staff of 41 highly-trained and specialized employees serves 37 agencies within Harris County completing an average of 3400 cases per year with no backlog.
