Leonel J. Castillo Community Center is located at 2101 South Street.
This historic property was constructed in 1919-1920 and designed by architect Alfred Charles Finn, who is widely known for his design of the San Jacinto Memorial Battleground Monument.
The redeveloped building, originally the Robert E. Lee Elementary School, was repurposed into a strongly desired community center that provides a priority meeting space for inner-city seniors of Precinct 2.
